What is a Pipefest ?
- A pipefest is a meeting of international pipe bands, individual pipers, drummers and drum majors. The participants parade in great blocks with common international music sets.
- On occasion the parade will be completed by further folkloric groups (clan societies, highland dancers etc.) and brass bands.
- At the end of parade the participants come together to play as massed bands the 'Salute to the Chieftain'.
- During the parade there will be a collection in support of a charity organization (traditionally cancer aid).
- The participants pay their own travel and accomodation expenses. They get the traditional t-shirt and are invited to a party in the evening.
